Michael: I have been a professional performing artist for most of my life, and I have a wealth of experience to share with the talented students at COCA. What do you hope to bring from your professional experience to working with students during the intensives? ![]() It also excites me to work with such a diverse community of artists. Michael: I always get excited about teaching at COCA! What I appreciate most is the high standard of talent and commitment from the staff, teachers, and students. What excites you the most about returning to COCA and working with our young artists? Michael Beatty We asked Michael to tell us about what students can expect from COCA’s voice intensives this year-and share a little bit about his latest work! He has authored many articles for peer reviewed journals as well as book chapters, and he lectures extensively both nationally and internationally.We’re thrilled to have Michael Beatty, NYC Actor, Singer, and Broadway Vocal Coach, return as a teaching artist for COCA’s voice intensives this summer! Michael has been a guest teaching artist with our voice intensives for many years, helping vocalists to create, refine, and rehearse songs from a variety of musical styles. Pitman has received numerous grants for pioneering research in the field of Laryngology. Pitman has been voted by his peers as one of the “Best Doctors in America”, as well as to New York Magazine “Top Doctors” and New York Times “SuperDocs”. He completed his otolaryngology residency at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and was a fellow in Laryngology and Care of the Professional Voice at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. These areas include illnesses such as vocal fold paralysis, cricopharyngeal dysfunction, spasmodic dysphonia, laryngopharyngeal reflux, chronic cough, laryngotracheal stenosis, vocal fold polyps, nodules and cysts.
